Job Title: Patient Advocate
Reports To: Amy Hans, PA Manager


Position is full-time, non-exempt. Benefits include access to group medical, dental, vision, life and disability. Eligible to participate after six months in company 401K Retirement. Paid time off and holiday pay.


General Description

The Patient Advocate will perform and coordinate services to pharmacy customers which improves their access to needed medications and ensures the highest level of service delivery is provided by all pharmacy staff. The Advocate will monitor and manage the Convenience program, Refills Due Report and New Patient/Missing Patient reports for assigned pharmacies.

  • Customer Service – The Advocate will develop processes and protocols to monitor customer service and communicate with customers who are new to our pharmacies, no longer use our pharmacies or have complaints about the level of service they received from one of our pharmacies.
  • Patient Adherence – The Advocate will monitor and report Patient Adherence scores for assigned pharmacies, as well as working with PPM Compliance to monitor DIR fees and employ strategies to reduce these fees (Convenience Program, Refills Due Report, etc.).
  • Patient Financial Support – The Advocate will evaluate sources of potential financial support or discounted pricing for patients in need and facilitate the action necessary to secure this support for the patient.
  • Training and Education – The Advocate will assess the need for training and education of pharmacy staff and work with Human Resources to plan and provide such training. An emphasis will be placed upon customer service skills, to include effective, professional communication and knowledge of products to improve the sales acumen of pharmacy employees.
  • Must be self-motivated and well organized.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Present a professional image via proper hygiene and grooming, as well as adherence to company dress code.
  • Must be flexible and responsive to perform these and other duties as assigned.

Work Experience Requirements

Minimum of two years’ experience as a pharmacy technician. Current Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred.

Education Requirements

Minimum high school diploma required.
