General Description

  • The staff accountant provides support to the Executive Staff.
  • Job duties, under the direction of the Controller, will include but not be limited to: Reconciliation of bank accounts for multiple locations;
  • Preparation and recording of monthly journal entries to include: sales, cost of sales, intercompany transactions, inventory transfers, depreciation & amortization, accruals, pre-paids, HSA distributions, 401k payments and allocations;
  • Calculation of monthly management fees and third party fees;
  • Compilation of monthly schedules to include: consolidated debt schedule, intercompany benefits paid, analysis of accounts receivable;
  • Maintain monthly depreciation and amortization schedules and prepare annual property tax returns; Prepare monthly sales tax returns; Reconcile intercompany accounts weekly;
  • Research and resolve out of balance conditions in the general ledger that have been identified through reconciliation processes; Tracking and an overall understanding of vendor rebates received;
  • Preparation of month-end close binder to include preparing schedules to support general ledger balances; Run month-end reports upon close of month and perform other general ledger close functions.
  • Employee must be flexible and responsive to performing these and other duties, as assigned.
  • Capable of creating spreadsheets, reports and other documents related to the finance department.
  • Creates and maintains physical and electronic files.
  • Present a professional image via proper hygiene and grooming, as well as adherence to company dress code.
  • * Successful completion of drug screen and back ground check are required.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • Ability to operate a computerized accounting system – experience and knowledge of MAS100 a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate clearly and in a pleasant manner with individuals at all levels of the organization and the general public.
  • Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and follow through in a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain an organized office environment.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus minimum of 3 years work experience in similar position.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job will be considered.
